Julie Lawes

DIRECTOR

julie@catchup.org.uk

Catch Up Director since 2001, Julie was previously an Advisory Support Teacher working with the Thetford Education Action Zone where she introduced Catch Up with children in Year 3 who had literacy difficulties. She was so impressed by the results that she adapted the programme for both younger and older children and piloted the developments in Thetford classrooms with the support of the EAZ.

Before taking up her appointment in Norfolk, Julie held senior management posts in special schools in Leicestershire, and has an MA in Management and Special Education.

Anne Kenyon

DEPUTY DIRECTOR (WALES)

Anne has worked as a Keystage 1 Teacher, a special school teacher, Advisory teacher for SEN, and LEA advisor for SEN.

She was inspired by the Catch Up project in 2000 and adapted it into Welsh medium (Dyfal Donc). She is now Catch Up Deputy Director for Wales (and a Catch Up Approved Trainer).

Dr Graham Sigley

DEPUTY DIRECTOR

He was Director of the Thetford Education Action Zone from 1999 to 2003, since when he has been the Co-ordinator for the Thetford Excellence Partnership. He gained his Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Management in 2002.

After film school, Wayne spent eight years as a college lecturer. Since then he has worked in media production - as an editor on numerous television projects, as a writer/director of more than 120 short films (from training films for Disney to education documentaries), and as a producer of digital games for education (he produced the Catch Up Literacy Digital Games 2 and 3) and websites.

Wayne has an MA in Philosophy and an MSc (Oxon) in Education. He has recently started a DPhil at the University of Oxford, looking at how digital games can be used to support children who struggle with numeracy.
